About the Project

Blackbaud Education Management (BEM) has an integration with Raiser's Edge NXT (RE) called Connect Raiser's Edge (ConnectRE). This capability allows user records in BEM to be linked to a matching record in RE. These linked records sync any changes in a BEM record to update a matching record in RE automatically, reducing the need to do manual entry or imports.

ConnectRE works with database view and as the get out of database view to webview journey continues for RE, there becomes a need to replace ConnectRE. The company has a 2024 goal to deliver 10 new connected system product features, with the replacement of ConnectRE being one.

The integration between BEM and RE also strengthens the businesses story around the Total School Solution as we continue to work on our win rate against BEM competitors.

Known Issues with ConnectRE

Currently, the ConnectRE integration is designed as a one-way sync from the BEM products into RE. Clients have requested throughout the years to have a two-way sync of data between BEM and RE, meaning, if a change of a record is done in either system, it can update both ways. As the one-way sync works today, the BEM products database must have the most current information or else they might lose data in RE when the one-way sync executes. Losing data in either system can be detrimental to a customer resulting in a lack of trust in the syncs done by ConnectRE. A small amount of our customers still use ConnectRE despite the known issues with the syncing of data between the two products.
